W.I.S.E. Program

Ward Independence Skills Enhancement (W.I.S.E.) program is a Title IV-E federally-funded program that is part of the Allegheny County Independent Living Project. We serve male and female teens who are currently, or who were previously, in a placement apart from their biological families. Ward Home provides this in-home service to youth living at home, in placement or independently, helping the youth to develop the social and life skills necessary for successful independence. This program is unlike Supervised Independent Living (S.I.L.) in that it does not provide 24-hour supervision in an effort to progress a teen to adulthood. Ward Home is one of three agencies in Allegheny County implementing this program.
